6. Ring Of Honor Rises From The Ashes

ROH’s sudden release of their entire roster in November 2021 was sad news for everyone in the world of professional wrestling.

Rising to prominence in 2002, ROH stepped in to fill the void left behind by the closing of both WCW and ECW the previous year. With an innovative style and a roster packed to the gills with the future top names of the industry, the promotion quickly set itself apart from the competition, helping to propel the likes of CM Punk, Samoa Joe, and Bryan Danielson to national prominence.

While the acquisition and subsequent mismanagement of the company by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, and the rise of All Elite Wrestling may have taken the wind out of ROH’s sails, it was the pandemic that would ultimately force the organization to go on hiatus.

Ring of Honor hasn’t been pinned just yet, though. With its title belts still being defended across multiple promotions and its upcoming SuperCard of Honor pay-per-view taking place on 1 April 2022, ROH could return on the scene better than ever.
