10 Awesome UFC Fighters Who Went On Terrible Runs

3. Takanori Gomi

The only downside of becoming an absolute force in another promotion, is the undoubted expectation that will follow you into wherever you choose to call home next.

Takanori Gomi soon found out his 31 wins and 5 losses, didn't mean much outside of PRIDE's walls.

Losing three of his first four fights - including a loss to Nate Diaz - 'The Fireball Kid' had his back up against the wall, almost instantly.

He'd eventually go on to record three more wins in UFC - losing a further six - and thoroughly disproved the idea that he would conquer the Lightweight division in the company.

Oh and his last five UFC defeats all came in the first round, with four being KO's... yep.

After leaving UFC, Gomi would go on to appear in RIZIN and lose on his debut Vs Yusuke Yachi. Yet, thankfully, he finally broke his six fight curse and beat Melvin Guillard at RIZIN 11 in 2018.

A 36-15 MMA record is still not to be sniffed at, though and Gomi deserves all the credit for his incredible run coming into Dana White's company.
