10 Awesome Wrestling Title Reigns That Went Long
3. John Cena - WWE World Title (380 Days)
Marking an important turning point in John Cena's WWE career, this thirteen month run with the company's top prize was a brave booking decision at the time, but one that would see Cena grow into WWE's most reliable all-rounder and true new face of the industry.
Beginning with an impressive feud-decider against Edge, the run featured endless phenomenal matches with men and monsters up and down the roster.
A modern-day Hulk Hogan/Rock hybrid, Cena would contest multiple Match of the Year candidates with Umaga, Bobby Lashley, and others, main event a WrestleMania AND go nearly an hour on TV with Shawn Michaels, as well as performing minor miracles in his angles with The Big Show and The Great Khali.
The complete performer during the reign, as Triple H likes to say in Network specials, Cena would absolutely make the title, rather than the other way around.
An injury against serial crocker Ken Kennedy brought the run to an unplanned halt, but Cena was a made man by then.
His legacy assured, it seemed unlikely that anybody else in the modern era could put together a run like that.
Unlikely, but not impossible.
