10 Awesome Wrestling Title Reigns That Went Long

4. Demolition - WWE Tag Team Titles (478 Days)

Bondage-clad hardnuts who could see their near-30 year record broken this week, Demolition blazed a trail through an impressive WWE tag division that they were never intended to dominate quite so handily.

No-selling brawlers with facepaint, the act was (rightfully) slammed early doors as a Road Warriors knock-off. Having been unsuccessful in snaring Hawk & Animal in his territorial talent raids, Vince McMahon created a curiously similar presentation and pushed them as an indestructible force.

Coming at a time when the Hart Foundation, British Bulldogs, The Killer Bees, and others were knocking out genuinely stellar matches in WWE's land of the giants, Demolition initially didn't look to have the staying power, but once they unseated Strike Force at WrestleMania IV for the gold, they picked up a huge head of steam.

Suddenly looking like destroyers of all who crossed them, a defeat for the title holders seemed literally unbelievable. Now completely shedding the L.O.D copycat label, Ax and Smash battered their way through WWE's finest duos, even turning babyface due to overwhelming popularity in late 1998.

Regardless of if New Day do take their record this week, Demolition earned their place in tag team immortality, with their hard-hitting brawls still holding up today.
