During the pandemic, nobody has adapted and thrived in the unique circumstances imposed on the wrestling industry like Britt Baker.
Baker arrived in AEW with considerable hype and showcased her in-ring talent at the company’s debut pay-per-view. Yet too much of her gimmick heavily leaned on her other occupation as a dentist. This quirk is fun fact fodder but not a befitting gimmick for an upper-card talent – even in the cooky, cartoon-esque days of WWE, Isaac Yankem had to become the monster Kane.
Baker’s new Role Model gimmick has clicked, and she has taken the basic idea to a successful place, becoming a credit to her promotion.
In addition, Baker and Thunder Rosa put on one of the most exciting and violent clashes in recent memory, the kind of match that begged for the energy and emotion of a vast live crowd.
Baker has continued to improve, perfect, and hone her skills as a sports entertainer. It will be intriguing to see how Britt Baker 2.0 will continue to develop with a crowd to play off of.
