News that both Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose and The Miz would be joining Raw - and not just joining Raw, but continuing their never-ending feud therein - wasn't exactly welcomed by everyone.

But give WWE its due: this actually worked out pretty well almost immediately, with Miz providing the injection of competition in the Monday night midcard ranks that helped the likes of Finn Bálor and Seth Rollins raise their respective games.

The triple threat match the trio shared back in May was the best example of this. Afforded enough time to plot out a meaningful story, it was a match in which all three performers - with a shot at Dean's title up for grabs - were able to show their very best work.

And, yes, it did end with an arena black-out effect that saw Bray Wyatt, for no good reason, take out two competitors to gift Miz victory. That didn't really harm the overall quality though, because there was no other sensible way to have the heel win.
