Few modern storylines have started as brightly yet finished as poorly as Randy Orton's infiltration of the Wyatt Family, which initially presented 'The Viper' in his most compelling form in years, but died long before the historically bad House Of Horrors match at Payback 2017.

Luke Harper was a huge part of the storyline. While Bray trusted Orton implicitly, his lieutenant was wary. He always kept Randy at arm's length, even when the Family became SmackDown Tag Team Champions, and this tension (spurred by a wayward Superkick from Harper to Wyatt on January 10th) led to their dissolution.

The big man was out by the Royal Rumble, and completed his face turn before facing Orton at Elimination Chamber. The crowd were super into it. Long considered one of WWE's most under-pushed wrestlers, Harper was getting great reactions as he stepped out against Wyatt and Orton. The audience support was there, but sadly, the company's was not, and after losing at Elimination Chamber, Luke slid back towards obscurity.

Harper's spike was so strong that there was talk he'd be added to Wyatt and Orton's WWE Title match at WrestleMania. This didn't come to pass, and he was on the periphery by summer.
