7. Asuka Winning The SmackDown Women’s Title

Asuka is currently on top of the Raw women's division as their champion and is doing a good job, despite a lack of narrative direction from creative. She's completely stood out in the miserable year of 2020 as an essential superstar and her feud with Sasha Banks in the summer contained some of the best matches in recent WWE memory. Yet, the hesistance to truly push her as the face of a brand hasn't just happened in 2020.

Despite her undefeated streak lasting for years, Asuka lost by submission to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34 for the SmackDown women's title. This was made more troubling by the fact that Flair immediately lost the title on Tuesday and there was no continuation of the implications of Asuka's loss, with the Empress of Tomorrow often being absent from SmackDown.

Thankfully, Asuka got her crowning moment on top of the blue brand's women's division at TLC 2018, beating Flair and Becky Lynch in the main event to capture her first main roster world title. While her reign was overshadowed by the other women and an abrupt title loss, it was a cathartic, beautiful victory that should have happened eight months earlier.
