10 Awful Moves Talented Wrestlers Need To Stop Using

9. Jake Hager - Arm Triangle Choke

Another example of an MMA move not transitioning well over to the squared circle, Jake Hager debuted an Arm Triangle Choke as his new finisher. This was a move that actually gained Hager a first round victory at Bellator 214, and while the move is impressive in the Octagon, it's not so much in AEW.

The issue with the Arm Triangle Choke is that it doesn't allow for a good visual. The best part about submission wrestling is that you get to see the selling of both athletes. Specifically, the victim screaming out in agony or turning blue and passing out. Bret Hart's Sharpshooter or Jon Moxley's Bulldog Choke are great examples of this being done effectively.

Hager's Choke doesn't allow the audience to see the impact that the move is having and can often come across like the two wrestlers are sharing a very limp hug. I understand that Hager wants to separate himself from his WWE persona while also staying true to his MMA career, but the Ankle Lock and Gut-Wrench Powerbomb were far more impressive finishers.
