2. The WWE Universe

Here we go - the one you've been waiting for.

Since 2008, WWE has branded their entire fan base, and even those that don't watch the show, the 'WWE Universe'. Actually, if you have a pulse, WWE is likely to consider you a member of the 'WWE Universe'.

Once again by utilizing the word "universe" which is associated more with galaxies, planets, and the Big Bang, there is no tie-in to WWE, the World Wrestling Federation, WWFE, or any other acronym Vince McMahon's company has ever gone by.

Equally eye-rolling names like the Ringsters, Matmen, or Squared Circle Jerk would have at least made reference to the activities involved in WWE. In all seriousness though, WWE surely should've been able to come up with a more appropriate name for their audience, but did they need to?

Was continuing to say "the fans of WWE" like they'd been doing the past 30 years really so bad that a corporate catchphrase like 'WWE Universe' had to be created? A great many people are likely to recoil from such forced and apparent branding, and even more people certainly don't introduce themselves as "a member of the WWE universe" when discussing their sports and entertainment preferences.

They're fans. They're WWE fans! What's so wrong with that?
