10 Awful Nicknames Given To WWE Fans Over The Years

3. Kaneanites

Why must so many nicknames for the fans be some tongue-in-cheek play on words? It's one thing if the phrase ties in with the wrestler's character or gimmick, but with previous examples like misfits, eggheads, and now Canaanites, these meanings were not related to the superstars at all.

Yes, the Big Red Machine referred to his fans as the Kaneanites on an episode of RAW in 2002.

The middle eastern people spoken of in the Bible should not be the first, or even the 5,000th, on the list of good ideas to call Kane fans.

It's another example of WWE taking a word, any word, regardless of its definition or connotation and molding it into a cutesy tag line that they can print en masse on hats and t-shirts. Forget what it means, forget what it implies, forget what it might suggest, just focus on the fact that the new nickname sounds like another word that exists in the English language! Eureekah!!

I mean that must be the attitude that Vince McMahon, the marketing team, the writers, the talent, or whoever else has been coming up with this !*$% for decades abides by, given the number of egregiously bad monikers that exist. Can we please send them back to biblical times?!
