10 Awful WCW Gimmicks That Immediately Died

3. That '70s Guy

The Yeti WCW
WWE

After the debacle of The Fat Chick Thriller, you'd perhaps think that WCW writers, getting a second bite of the Mike Awesome cherry, would be keen to rectify their initial mistake.

You'd be wrong. Just a couple of months later, the former ECW star came to the ring in an oversized collar and proclaimed himself as "That '70s Guy", a reference to the Ashton Kutcher-starred show that was becoming popular around the same time.

Happily, there were no groupies this time, but Awesome still - for some reason - didn't quite manage to catch on with his new audience, and after a brief feud with Vampiro, he abruptly dropped his latest guise altogether.

You probably won't be surprised to learn that WCW fell off the face of the earth a few months later, with ideas like this cited by many critics as one of the major factors behind their gradual fall from grace.
