10 Bad-Ass WCW Gimmicks Wasted On Terrible Wrestlers

8. Asya

If you're running a wrestling promotion, and you decide you want to have some sort of women's division, you'll want to have an "amazon" in there at some point to mix things up. Sure, the "models" can be some nice eye candy, and the good in-ring workers can add diversity, but the "monsters" work well in those divisions, just like they work well in men's divisions. The WWF had a very successful "amazon" in Chyna, who would actually go on to become one of the more over workers in the company, male or female. WCW saw this success, and they decided they wanted to have some of that for themselves. They brought in a female bodybuilder named Christi Wolf, and they could have given her any name on the planet. They decided to call her Asya, in what is probably the most transparent ripoff in the history of the wrestling business. While Asya was very strong and muscular, she didn't have the same stature as Chyna. Chyna stood nearly six feet tall, and actually fit in when standing next to several of the men on the WWF roster. As muscular as Asya was, she was still only 5'3", and the affect just wasn't the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMgJtZHmiC8 They tried to push her as a woman that could hang with the guys, but crowds weren't buying it, and she just wasn't very good at her role. Less than a year after she actually began wrestling, the company released her.
