10 Behind The Scenes Secrets WWE Don't Want You To Know
6. Blading
The cat has long since been let out of the bag on this one, largely thanks to a series of YouTube videos in which referees are shown placing a shiny metal thing into the palm of a wrestler as they lay strewn on the mat.
But it warrants a mention because of the undeniable skill involved in pulling it off. Wrestlers who deliberately draw blood from their foreheads must be very precise with their incision so as to avoid a serious wound and possible scarring - and they often manage to do it while rolling around the floor after a chair shot.
Of course, this practice has - thanks to the much-needed introduction of health and safety measures across the wrestling world - become much more rare in WWE these days. Now, instead of a little blade, they use Brock Lesnar's elbow.
When you think about it, the whole practice of blading is kind of unnecessary. Yes, it adds to the theatre of a match, but there are other, more reliable ways of achieving the same effect, and none of them involve actually penetrating your skin.
