NXT gets many of the plaudits it does because of the endless simple storytelling devices used that hark back to a simpler under-written time in the industry. WWE's main roster product can sometimes sometimes be such a scatty overblown production, with little space for nuance, patience or even logic.

At an hour a week with never more than six TakeOver specials to build to in a single calendar year, the developmental brand patterns itself more on the method of build much of its core audience grew up watching.

To this end, the show's writers proffered a pretty straightforward question to give the only true babyfaces in November's WarGames spectacular some narrative heft. Could The Authors Of Pain and Roderick Strong get on the same page?

Asked and answered, when 'The Messiah Of The Backbreaker' emerged on the staged decked out exactly the same as Akam and Rezar. The threads even acted as a one night charisma bypass for Strong. Alongside his battlefield brothers for the night, he was ready for war.
