10 Best Booked WWE Champions Of 2020

1. Roman Reigns (WWE Universal Championship)

Reigns may be managed by Paul Heyman at the moment, but to summarise his latest run as Universal Champion requires a quote from one of wrestling's other Paul's - "Oh, yes!"

It's only three months into Reign's latest title run but WWE have outdone themselves in crafting his story. Reign's transformation from the Big Dog into the Tribal Chief has converted the critics and finally caused fans to accept him as the biggest star in the company. Roman Reigns simply works much better as a ruthless, ego-driven heel than as the gutsy good guy who repeatedly got his ass handed to him by Brock Lesnar (side note: why was Roman nicknamed the Big Dog when he was booked as the underdog in every match that mattered?)

The WWE have been doing groundbreaking work with Reign's Universal Championship run as his storyline with real-life cousin Jey Uso has provided some of the most compelling television of the year, wrestling or otherwise. Wrestling always works best when it collides with reality, and the family dynamic between Reigns and the Usos has proven fertile ground for WWE's best storytelling in a long, long while. The fact that the Tribal Chief is putting in the best matches of his career simply adds to the feeling that this might end up being one of the great championship reigns in wrestling (no pun intended).

As the introduction to this article stated, when WWE are on, they're on.
