10 Best Booked WWE Champions Of 2020
2. Bayley (WWE Smackdown Women's Championship)
If you'd told the average wrestling fan that Bayley would be 2020's best booked female champion at the start of the year, they'd probably have raised a very skeptical eyebrow. As they year progressed they'd also wonder why, out of everything you could have told them to get ready for in 2020, that was what you led with.
To be fair, Bayley's gargantuan booking boost would be headline-topping news in any normal year as Bayley made an astonishing transition from Second Fiddle to Made Woman during her time as champion. This time last year Bayley looked like little more than a warm body to carry the Smackdown Women's belt around - she was the obvious choice to eat the pin at the Champion vs. Champion three-way at Survivor Series, and she didn't even make the card for the year-ending TLC pay-per-view.
Which makes her accomplishment of achieving the #1 spot on PWI's top 100 female wrestlers of the year all the more astonishing. WWE told Bayley's story perfectly this year, transforming the former babyface into an arrogant, cruel bully who delighted in using every possible advantage to retain her title. Her tumultuous friendship with Sasha Banks was the best long-term storyline of the year as well, with WWE expertly teasing the inevitable break-up of the bitchy besties even when they were dominating the women's division as the Golden Role Models.
There's little doubt the Smackdown Women's title overtook it's RAW counterpart in terms of importance over the course of 2020, and that's largely down to the stellar work done by Bayley and the WWE during her epic reign.
