10 Best Champion Vs. Champion Matches In WWE History
8. Brock Lesnar (Universal) Vs. AJ Styles (WWE)
This is the only Survivor Series match on this list, which is a little concerning considering that Pay-Per-View inspired this whole thing.
AJ Styles won the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal on an episode of SmackDown two weeks out from Survivor Series 2017. This was a relief for many reasons - partly because we weren't getting Jinder vs. Brock and mainly because Jinder's reign went about as well as that time TNA thought it would be a good idea to hire Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.
Styles would now be the one to represent SmackDown against Raw's Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar, a truly mouth-watering concept. It was Lesnar's speed and power vs. Styles' agility and quickness. The WWE elite vs. the indie darling. It wrote itself.
Lesnar has been guilty of not caring in a lot of his matches, but this was not one of them. He made AJ look like a million bucks, selling his offence and making everyone believe that The Phenomenal One might actually beat him. He didn't (of course) but everyone thought he stood a chance.
What keeps this match down is its lack of stakes; it was ultimately just a showcase. But man, what a showcase it was.
