10 Best Endings In WWE SummerSlam History
8. SummerSlam 1999
According to the rumour mill, SummerSlam 1999 was originally meant to see Chyna defeat Stone Cold Steve Austin to become the first ever female WWF Champion. Then, when this was scrapped, the plan became to put Triple H over and give him his first WWF title win.
The same mill has it that Stone Cold said that he didn't want to drop the belt to Trips, so a plan was concocted to introduce a third party to the main event - Mankind.
Mankind and Triple H fought to a double pin on an episode Raw, which crowned them both as number one contenders to Austin's belt. This set up an interesting narrative for SummerSlam's main event, which was already bolstered by Minnesota governor, Jessie "The Body" Ventura, serving as the its referee.
Much to everyone's surprise, it was Mick who got the win on this night. He capitalised on a Pedigree and hit Austin with the Double-Arm DDT to win his third and final WWF championship.
The next night on Raw, he dropped it to Triple H. Whilst it was certainly confusing and definitely surprising, the ending to SummerSlam '99 was still a nice moment, cos, let's face it, everybody loves Mick Foley.
