10 Best Endings In WWE SummerSlam History
6. SummerSlam 2000
When it comes to best Pay-Per-Views ever, SummerSlam 2000 is usually in the conversation.
Steve Blackman vs Shane McMahon, Chris Jericho vs Chris Benoit, and the first ever TLC match were all on this undercard. And the main event was an absolute Attitude Era dream.
The Rock was defending his WWF Championship against two challengers - his storied rival, Triple H, and fast-rising star, Kurt Angle. Rocky's two foes had other things on their mind besides the title, as they were embroiled in a love triangle with Hunter's real-life wife, Stephanie McMahon.
This match could have been scuppered early when Angle got concussed after a Pedigree through the announce table went wrong. However, this only added to the tension, as Angle returned midway through the bout to valiantly fight through his injury. Stephanie played her role to perfection, even taking a bump when her husband swung his sledgehammer a little too forcefully.
No, that's not a euphemism.
This distraction was what The Rock needed to get the upper hand, hitting The Game with The People's Elbow to retain his championship after a hell of a main event. Nothing world-changing happened during this match - it was just really, really good.
