10 Best Exceptions To WWE Rules

1. No Blading

The rules governing blood use in 1997 were no different to those in effect today in 2020. Basically, talent weren't allowed to deliberately introduce blood to their matches, and they certainly weren't allowed to engage in the ghastly practice of blading.

At WrestleMania 13, Bret Hart and Steve Austin didn't care about the rules.

Their match was better for it. Despite knowing they'd incur the wrath of an angry WWF figurehead later, Hart and Austin conspired to end their classic with the timeless image of a bloodied Austin passing out in the Sharpshooter. Bret even offered to be the one to slice Austin if he was worried about getting into trouble with McMahon.

Hart vs. Austin might still be a firm favourite amongst fans without claret, but there's no doubt the blood-soaked finish made their showdown iconic. The visual of a distressed 'Stone Cold' fighting to stay alive in the fight is one nobody would ever forget.
