3. Rocky Johnson & The Rock

For the Rock, it was his father who served as part of the inspiration for his Rocky Maivia ring name, with Dwayne Johnson taking the Rocky from his father Rocky Johnson, and the Maivia from his maternal grandfather 'High Chief' Peter Maivia.

'Soulman' Rocky Johnson called time on his own in-ring career in 1991, but he'd sporadically appear on WWE TV in 1996 and 1997 to keep an eye on his son in action - most famously making a post-match save after Rocky Maivia was beatdown by the Sultan, Iron Sheik and Bob Backlund at WrestleMania 13.

Even there at 'Mania 13, at 52 years of age, the Soulman looked like he could still whoop most of that 1997 roster. Sadly, his time back on WWE programming was soon brought to a halt when Rocky Maivia turned heel, joined the Nation of Domination and morphed into the Rock.

2008 would see one-time WWE Tag Team Champion Rocky Johnson inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame - along with Peter Maivia - by his son Dwayne. In a fun nugget of trivia, Dwayne Johnson's first ever acting gig was playing his father in a 1999 episode of That '70s Show.
