10 Best Image Changes In WCW History

7. Ron Simmons

One of Ron Simmons' early WCW gimmicks was as one half of Doom, a tag team alongside Butch Reed. Both men wore masks to the ring, and were simply named Doom #1 and Doom #2. Thankfully Simmons broke away from this bland character before long, turning face and feuding with Reed in 1991. Simmons subsequently won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, defeating Vader in August 1992 and holding onto it for five months, before losing it back to the big man in December. He is widely regarded as the first African American world heavyweight champion in wrestling history. It's unlikely that he would have won such an accolade were he not allowed to leave such an unremarkable image behind.
