10 Best Impact Wrestling World Champions Of All Time
7. Austin Aries
Austin Aries made Impact history in 2012 when he introduced Option C. This allows the X Division Champion to cash in their title for an opportunity at the World Championship, typically at Destination X, although it has occurred at other events since.
The Greatest Man That Ever Lived was that desperate to end the record-breaking reign of Bobby Roode that he was willing to give up the X Division Championship, a title that he also enjoyed a record-breaking reign with. The Dirty Heels do love breaking those records.
It was a shock twist when the announcement came, but it was one that certainly worked. Aries' time as champion didn't need to be that long because he'd already made history. In saying that, his reign wasn't exceptionally great. Sure, a few rather good matches, but nothing too special like some of the others on this list. It just goes to show you don't need to be the best champion to be remembered for your reign.
As we've seen in the years that have followed, the foundation Aries laid down with Option C is still in full effect today, with the likes of Chris Sabin, Rockstar Spud, and Brian Cage all utilising it to mixed results.
