10 Best Intergender Wrestling Matches Ever
1. Tessa Blanchard Vs. Sami Callihan (Slammiversary XVII)
The original clash between two of Impact Wrestling's most controversial characters in recent years drew a lot of eyes to the show. Going on last over Brian Cage's Impact World Championship defence against Michael Elgin, Blanchard and the phlegmiest wrestler in the world impressed under the spotlight.
Unsurprisingly, the third-generation starlet was presented as the physically outmatched underdog against the stronger, chunkier Callihan. Whipping out suicide dives and other similarly dangerous, agile moves to keep the oVe menace at bay, Blanchard took no time in getting the crowd behind her.
Callihan, meanwhile, was at his grim, grunge best as an angry sadist out to teach Blanchard a lesson after weeks of increasingly bitter back-and-forth. While some were deflated by Callihan coming out on top, it was the perfect set up the next chapter in what became Impact Wrestling's biggest rivalry leading up to the 2020 lockdowns.
While Blanchard's bizarre split from the promotion in 2020 ultimately dampened the overall legacy of the story, matches like this prove why she could've been the face of women's wrestling had she managed to learn the power of professionalism. Overall, it was an impressive, psychologically strong effort from two polarizing but effective characters.
