9. Winning The NXT Championship
It wasn't long at all before Owens ascended to the top of the NXT roster - just two months to the day after his debut, to be exact. At TakeOver: Rival, KO and Zayn faced off in a main event match for the latter's NXT Championship, which ended in controversial (and highly effective) circumstances.
The relentless Owens was infuriated after Zayn kicked out of a Pop-Up Powerbomb, and continued to drill his fellow Canadian with powerbomb after powerbomb. After a total of five spine-crunching slams, the referee waved off the bout and declared KO the winner by technical knockout.
Finally, after a 14 year career on the independent scene (during which he became a three-time PWG Champion and one-time ROH World Champion), Owens had his first WWE title.
