AJ Styles wasn't Kurt's best TNA opponent though, Samoa Joe was.

Seek out their first encounter at Genesis 2006 for context, then fast forward around two years to Lockdown 2008 for one of the promotion's best-ever main events. Sure, the tacked on stipulation that Joe's wrestling career would be over "forever" was unnecessary, but don't let that blot the copybook here.

There was some superb MMA-style build on iMPACT! to enjoy, and it gave the match a big-time atmosphere so many other TNA feuds lacked. It was different (at the time) to anything presented in WWE too, and that made it more mouth-watering to fans who disliked what was happening in McMahon land around the same period.

Come bell time, Joe and Angle were willing to stiff the sh*t out of one another so the match would seem realistic. It worked, and even the visual of Kurt donning UFC shorts gave everything credibility. If you can find this (GWN is your friend), you'll love it.
