6. Sabu Vs. Rob Van Dam - Ladder Match (16 August 2006)

Whether it was with or against each other, Rob Van Dam and Sabu made a great pair in the original ECW, with the two acrobatic extremists sharing the stage at several PPV events over the years. As such, the match-up was a natural fit when the brand returned to our screens in 2006.

Unfortunately, it had been ten years since they first waged war in Paul Heyman's playground. Time had taken it's toll on Sabu in particular in the years since. Nevertheless, RVD and the death-defying maniac were two of the most physically able performers of all the ECW originals. The addition of a ladder made it all the more enthralling.

With the No. 1 Contendership for the ECW Championship on the line, the two men used the lax rules to their advantage, while making use of the weapons at their disposal. While sloppy in parts and far from perfect, it was a cool throwback to yesteryear. Both men did well to cover the other's mistakes.

The match was a true glimpse into the company of old: anarchic, crazy and botchy at times, it was as close to the original ECW as the revived brand ever got outside of One Night Stand.
