While most will remember the now-retired Santino Marella as a whimsical Italian providing comic relief, his WWE debut is one that blurred the line between story and reality.

Proudly parading the Intercontinental Champion Umaga around the ring, McMahon offered the chance of a lifetime to a member of the Milan crowd: a shot at the IC Title in a No Holds Barred Match.

Lo and behold, Marella was selected from the crowd and predictably mauled by the Samoan Bulldozer. However, the interference of Bobby Lashley quickly turned the tide to aim Santino towards a history-making victory.

While it quickly became clear that Marella was working for the company, it was most certainly a surreal moment at the time.

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
