10 Best Moments In Starrcade History
5. Flair Vs. Luger (1988)
1988 was the first Starrcade produced under the World Championship Wrestling banner, after the Ted Turner buy-out earlier in the year which saw the company begin to drop "NWA" from its branding.
And their first main event was a spectacular one, featuring the culmination of Ric Flair and Lex Luger's for-the-ages feud, which was left unresolved at July's Great American Bash, where the latter bled so profusely that their match had to be brought to an abrupt end.
This time, we got closure, as the 'Dirtiest Player in the Game' sealed his title defence with a rope-aided pin after 30 minutes of some of the best wrestling of the 1980s, and a match that puts to bed accusations that Luger was naught more than a jacked-up body-builder.
