10 Best Movies Starring WWE Hall Of Famers
4. The Princess Bride (1987)
WWF Hall of Fame 1993 was the honour's inaugural class, and wrestling legend André the Giant, who sadly died in January of that year, was inducted posthumously, without ceremony, during an episode of Monday Night Raw. Having wrestled with the promotion since its WWWF days (before even WWF), and having been both a one-time WWF World Heavyweight and World Tag Team Champion, he was a natural pick to kick things off, and the 7-foot 4-inch titan still stands today as one of pro wrestling's all-time greatest.
Instantly recognisable and revered for his staggering size, André famously starred in the swashbuckling comedy romance The Princess Bride as the Greenland giant Fezzik. Working as part of a troupe of three outlaws, alongside Spanish buccaneer Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin) and the crafty Sicilian Vizzini (Wallace Shawn), Fezzik helps provide the plot motivation for a whirlwind tale through fantasy lands when the trio kidnap the titular damsel (Robin Wright) and force the Man in Black (Cary Elwes) to give chase.
Few films are as beloved by such a wide fanbase of all ages and demographics, and each of the idiosyncratic characters is responsible for making a big impression on us -- but few perhaps as large as André the Giant.
