10 Best Non-World Title Title Matches In WWE WrestleMania History
1. Kurt Angle Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Chris Benoit - WrestleMania 2000
WrestleMania 2000 was by no means a well-received event. The main event especially was universally despised. However that didn’t mean it was devoid of iconic moments. The Triangle Ladder match mentioned before became the stuff of legend. Something else on this card, was a two fall Triple Threat Match for both the European and Intercontinental Titles, and it absolutely burned the house down.
It comprised Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit, three of the greatest in-ring technicians ever, so what else could you expect? Angle had dubbed himself the “Euro-Continental Champion” heading into 'Mania, having won both championships. During the match, the three men traded countless reversals, finisher attempts and near-falls before Benoit landed his Diving Headbutt on Y2J for the IC Title Fall.
Then, at the end of the second part, Benoit missed another Diving Headbutt and Jericho capitalized with a Lionsault to capture the European Title.
Angle lost both his championships without being pinned or submitted, the in-ring storytelling was just perfect, and it gave us what was arguably the best non-World Title, title match in WrestleMania history.
