10 Best Options To Be WWE's Next Top Guy
5. Big E
Time was, WWE had big plans for Big E Langston. Brought in as Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee's silent bodyguard, Langston was a prominent performer on TV throughout 2013. Eventually turning face, he was buddied up with the likes of John Cena and CM Punk, and by the end of the year, was the Intercontinental Champion.
Unfortunately, E lost practically all his momentum, and by the middle of 2014, he was off television. He eventually re-debuted with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods as The New Day, and the rest is history.
While Big E has maintained a prominent midcard role thanks to The New Day, fans have always thought he could be doing much more as a singles performer, and it's clear WWE thought that at one point as well. Physically, the dude makes up for his short stature with an amazing physique and great power moveset. On the mic, he's easily the most engaging and intense out of his New Day companions, and it's clear online and in less scripted environments he's got charisma and humor for days.
Unfortunately, while it was the New Day that helped Big E get over in a big way, they're ultimately that are holding him back in the long run. While it's commendable that the group are insistent on staying together, WWE historically have never been interested in main event babyfaces as part of stables (the recent Shield reunions notwithstanding).
So with this recent power vacuum that's emerged, maybe it's time Big E really think about success vs. loyalty.
