5. Stone Cold Vs The Rock At Wrestlemania 17
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srhd2fZyDB4 Austin and The Rock would face each other three times at a Wrestlemania. Twice, The Rock would assume the role of heel to Austin's babyface, but in 2001, they were both the biggest babyfaces in the company, which created a very unique atmosphere at Wrestlemania 17. They were not foes or mortal enemies going into it, they were simply rivals. Stone Cold sums it up in the promo, saying "The fact is, Rock, you've got the WWF Title, and I want it" The video mostly featured clips of tension between the two in the run-up to Wrestlemania, constantly cutting back to a face-to-face interview between them, before having them beating the hell out of each other. Over the course of everything, we see the biggest strength of this feud: it doesn't need either man to be the heel. By just letting them go at it over the title, it makes the championship feel more important, and elevates both men's standing in the eyes of the audience. It split the crowd right down the middle, and let's not forget, it had a brilliant song choice. Limp Bizkit's "My Way" gave the whole promo a very unique feel. The two men would face each other again at Wrestlemania two years later (to the tune of another Limp Bizkit song, coincidentally) to the delight of fans. It was a great match that would prove to be Austin's last, but they couldn't quite recapture the lightning in a bottle that they did with this one.
