2. Sting vs Giant From Nitro 1996
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlWbE_3i_XY The big news this week was Sting's in-ring Raw debut. Despite the WWE bizarrely not advertising the match until the top of the show itself, the Icon's singles match against Big Show naturally caused a lot of buzz on social media. Some of the chatter centred around negative reactions to the choice of opponent, or doubted whether Stinger would actually be allowed to pick up a win - but a lot of attention was also drawn to this Youtube video, uploaded in 2010. Footage from a 1996 edition of Nitro shows Sting and Big Show (then known as 'Giant') in their first match together, almost two decades before their Raw main event. Somewhat predictably for WCW, the match goes to a no-contest as Lex Luger runs out to help Sting.
@WrestlingsFacts pointed out that Sting was yet to have a WWE match against a non-former WCW star (yes, Triple H once plied his trade down south, under the hilarious 'Terra Ryzing' moniker). Unfortunately, this fact quickly became invalid as the Raw main event became a tag match also involving Seth Rollins and John Cena.
