10 Best WCW vs. ECW Matches

7. Mikey Whipwreck vs. Billy Kidman - Uncensored 1999

As unlikely a success story as there has ever been in wrestling, Mikey Whipwreck's underdog gimmick was charming and well-worked in ECW. Obviously, someone in Atlanta was watching, which is why WCW came calling in 1999. Instead of booking Whipwreck the same way however, he simply became just another wrestler, one who would come up short when facing Billy Kidman for the Cruiserweight Title at Uncensored '99. Whilst he was capable of putting on watchable matches, Whipwreck desperately needed more of a character if he was ever going to succeed in WCW. Instead, he was just an Average Joe, one devoid of any real persona, aura or storylines. Nonetheless, for longtime fans of ECW, it must have been a treat to watch the man compete on a bigger stage against the ever-excellent Kidman. Mikey would only last a few months in WCW, who didn't really seem to have much of a game plan for their new employee once they signed him, which is a hallmark of the organisation as a whole.
