10 Best Wrestlers Of 2020
5. Hangman Page
Incredible matches at Full Gear and Revolution must be mentioned when appraising Hangman Page's 2020, though even the much-debated "greatest tag team match of all time" (note: it was not the greatest tag team match of all time) sits below his meticulously plotted character arc.
Page was on fire in the first and second quarters. Reborn as a badass, beer-chugging vagabond, he didn't give a f*ck about bristling The Young Bucks to the point of coming to blows. Jettisoning himself from The Elite had brought Hangman closer to Hangman. He had found himself while teaming with Kenny Omega, completely rebounding from his opening run as a failed vanilla babyface, and was brimming with newfound confidence.
But the paradox about not giving a f*ck is that those who model themselves on this mantra invariably give more f*cks than anyone else on the planet. This is particularly true of Page, whose outward self-esteem collapsed after completely alienating the Jacksons, losing the tag straps, and becoming estranged from Omega as well.
Hangman is depressed. The 'Focused Yeehaw Man' is now the 'Anxious Millennial Cowboy.' He knows he has messed everything up, knows it's all his fault, and doesn't know how to fix it. Afflicted by something a huge percentage of his generation struggles with, he is amongst the most relatable characters in wrestling.
