6. Angelico Confirms His Insanity (Lucha Underround, 2015)

Love it or hate it, Lucha Underground is totally unique. Its wacky universe isn’t for everyone, but its bold characters, outlandish storylines, and spectacular in-ring action have seen it develop a loyal cult following around the world. It has an identity that is entirely its own, and how many other wrestling companies can legitimately say that?

South African high-flier Angelico is one of LU’s most reliable sources of highlight reel footage. The Ultimo Dragon-trained wrestler has provided some of the show’s most breathtaking stunts through his fondness for leaping off things, and while Angelico is constantly trying to raise the bar, it’s hard to top his first major dive in 2015.

Competing in a trios match, Angelico’s partners (Ivelisse and Son of Havoc) were neutralised at ringside, while the man himself was stuck on an office rooftop, powerless to help them… or so everyone thought. Angelico suddenly sprung to life, sprinting across the roof before leaping into the ring, covering an immense distance in the process. The crowd lost their mind as Angelico made a perfect landing atop his opponents, effectively securing his team’s victory.
