10 Best Wrestling Matches In Non-Wrestling Movies
1. Shrek & Donkey Vs. The Knights - Shrek
Is it weird to say that Shrek would make a great wrestler, particularly in WWE? This impromptu wrestling match surely is proof of that.
Shrek, with the help of Donkey, finds Lord Farquaad in an effort to rid his swamp of a load of fairy tale characters. Farquaad, who has just organised a tournament to see which of his knights is worthy to rescue a princess from a dragon for him, rejigs the whole thing and declares the knight that kills Shrek will be champion.
In true WWE fashion, Shrek kicks off with a beer bath before taking the action to the ring (i.e. a horse pen). Then to the sounds of Bad Reputation (the song that would become the entrance theme for Ronda Rousey), our Jolly Green Juggernaut ploughs through the armoured goons with the help of his sidekick.
At the time the film was being made, professional wrestling was never more popular, so everyone could name the moves the ogre was busting out; double clotheslines, full nelsons, vertical suplex, a tombstone piledriver, all while playing to the crowd in the biggest double turn since Steve Austin & Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13. Also, Donkey gives a hell of a headbutt.
Shrek & Donkey win their handicap bout and are named champion by the diminutive Lord. #PleaseSignShrek
