Yes, Brock Lesnar losing his first match back in the company after eight years made no sense. Put aside that brain freeze in logic for a second and what is left is one of the finest brawls in modern day World Wrestling Entertainment. Lesnar was built up as a genuine !*$%-kicker as opposed to a wrestler, and the second coming of Brock was born.

The match is stiff as all hell, almost as if Lesnar had forgotten that he was transitioning back into professional wrestling. Cena is opened up the hard way pretty early on, which Lesnar sells beautifully with a chuckle to the crowd and a pointing out of his elbow. The stoppage puts a stop to the early momentum, but these two quickly build up a head of steam once more.

In a way the match is quite messy, but this works to Lesnar's strengh perfectly as the whole thing comes across as being a fight, not a wrestling match. Cena takes an absolute beating but is able to stay in the match, because something about Hustle, Loyalty, Respect I presume.

It takes an AA on the steps from Cena to put Brock away, in a result that still angers many to this day. Regardless of the result, this is the best match that the WWE has put in April outside of Mania, and will take some topping in the years to come.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
