One of the big problems of wrestling over the past couple of decades is that big stars from the past generation aren’t often putting over young talent before its time to hang things up. But to give credit to Triple H and Batista, they had no problem letting The Shield show their dominance over Evolution.

Triple H had tried to manipulate the young group into helping him win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but his plan backfired, he tricked them, and they went to war with him. To even the odds, Hunter brought in his old allies (minus Flair), and they battled the young stars at Extreme Rules and Payback 2013 in two great matches.

The Shield became big fan favourites as they put away the old guard, winning in convincing fashion. Sadly the story ended there ,as Rollins turned on his old pals and joined The Authority. Still, it was damn entertaining while it lasted.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
