10 Best Wrestling Tag Teams Of 2021
2. The Lucha Bros
There is only one thing separating the Lucha Bros from the number one spot; their respective singles work across the year.
Between Rey Fénix's tremendous World Title clash with Kenny Omega, Penta el Zero Miedo's mini-feud vs. Cody Rhodes, and everything that came between it, there was simply not enough substance to warrant the Lucha Bros being top of the table, particularly when you consider who is in that spot.
But, when they were teaming, they were untouchable.
So good were they in two March trios matches vs. members of the Super Elite that their subsequent rivalry vs. the Young Bucks flowed ever so naturally. This was the feud that, although didn't begin in AEW, set the correct precedent for tag team wrestling in the Tony Khan-helmed company; it was great then, and here, it was transcendent. The duos' Steel Cage war from All Out will go down as a game-changer as it pertains to tag team cage matches.
This was just the peak of their year. Further matches against a diverse range of both big and small-league tandems - literally everyone from FTR to Chaos Project - highlighted just how superlative Penta and Fénix were all year long.
Had it not been for the frankly ridiculous year had by this next team, the Lucha Bros would have been an easy first place.
