10 Best Wrestling Trilogies
8. The Rock Vs Steve Austin (WrestleMania 15, WrestleMania 17, WrestleMania 19)
The two hugest stars of the Attitude Era had already feuded for the Intercontinental Championship in 1997, but that would merely be a prelude to their most legendary battles.
Steve Austin's feud with Vince McMahon had reached a fever pitch by 1999, sending "Stone Cold" into a collision course with McMahon's chosen corporate champion - The Rock. After Austin earned the right to challenge for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 15 (and after, famously, he sprayed The Rock, Vince, and Shane McMahon with beer on Raw), he defeated Rock in a heated battle to capture the title.
Later that year, Austin was put on the shelf following neck surgery, and he spent 10 months getting back to action. When he could finally compete again, he won the Royal Rumble match, which put him on a babyface-versus-babyface collision with WWE Champion - you guessed it - The Rock. Once again, they headlined WrestleMania, and after one of the best main events in the show's history (and after an Austin heel turn), Stone Cold captured gold once more.
Two years later, Austin was a babyface again, while The Rock was once more a heel. Both men were coming off long absences (Rock had been filming a movie, while Austin walked out of the company in June of 2002), and Rock, hoping to finally score a win over his nemesis, challenged Austin to one more WrestleMania showdown. At WrestleMania 19, Rock finally scored his first singles pinfall over Austin, beating "The Rattlesnake" in what would turn out to be Austin's final match ever.
