10 Best WWE Face Turns Of The 2010s
2. CM Punk - Raw 2011
It wasn't meant to be a face turn, but it ended up being one of the most effective ever.
On the 26 June Episode of Raw, CM Punk cut one of the most important promos of all time.
In what has now been dubbed "The Pipebomb", Punk railed on everyone from WWE Champion John Cena, to Vince McMahon himself, in a verbal embodiment of many criticisms WWE fans had with the product at the time.
This worked-shoot promo drew millions of pairs of eyes onto Punk and even brought some lapsed fans back to WWE. Punk was now the talk of the entire industry.
Punk had been a heel before the Pipebomb, but people loved it so much that WWE were forced to position him as a babyface, even though he was going up against John Cena. When Punk challenged Cena for the WWE Championship in his hometown of Chicago, the pop was seismic.
It may not have been intended as a face turn and some may argue that it wasn't one, but this moment is far too important to ignore and it did turn a legion of fans into CM Punk lovers, which is what a good face turn should do.
