Remember, this was SUPPOSED to be a heel turn.

Becky Lynch, then an-underrated babyface, earned herself a SmackDown Women's Championship match against Carmella at SummerSlam by pinning the champ in a non-title match.

However, WWE had clearly never heard the phrase "Three's A Crowd", because they decided to add Charlotte Flair to this match by having her also beat Carmella.

The ensuing triple threat match at SummerSlam was a great showcase for all three women. Fans got drawn in when Lynch locked in the Dis-Arm-Her on Carmella and had her on the verge of tapping out, only for The Queen to take Lynch out from behind and pin her to win the title.

This was the final straw for an underappreciated Lynch, who attacked Charlotte after the match in what was supposed to be a heel turn. Unfortunately for WWE, this is exactly what the fans wanted to see, so it got the biggest pop of the night.

Lynch's character believed that she was undervalued as a performer and the fans echoed this sentiment in real life. This led to Lynch's mega-push, which culminated with her winning both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships in the first ever all-female main event in WrestleMania history.

This heel turn might have failed at its basic aim, but it achieved so much more than even WWE could have imagined.
