Everyone loves a good insult, and everyone's heard the old phrase, "sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me". That's used to teach kids that all they need to worry about is a stiff uppercut to the jaw, not some verbal shade from Jimmy at school.

Until they grow up and become WWE superstars, that is.

Things are a bit different when those insults play before millions of people on television and they're greeted by thousands more live with a hearty, "Oooooooooh". After all these years, there's still something oh-so-satisfying about hearing one wrestler call another out for their crap, or just go for the jugular and call them a big ol' bitch.

2018 had some crackers in this department. There were snide references to other companies, claims of nepotism, thinly-veiled 'your mother' jokes, insider comments and even a healthy dose of family friendly fat-shaming. If...if that's even a thing (it's not; don't do it, kids).

Here, presented for your reading pleasure, are the best WWE insults and putdowns from the past 12 months of TV. What a way to make an impact...
