A tag-team wrestler at the time, Edge won King of the Ring 2001 by defeating Kurt Angle, already a former World Champion by then, in the final.
The win launched Edge straight into the IC Title division, where he feuded mostly with Christian, trading the belt with his former partner and others.
One year after his King of the Ring victory, Edge had the honor of sharing tag-team gold with Hulk Hogan (his childhood hero), and was having some terrific matches weekly(!) as a member of the so-called "SmackDown Six".
Even though a neck injury would delay his first World Championship win, there's no denying the company already had big plans for him back in 2001 when he won the tournament.
