10 Best WWE Matches Ever To Take Place In The UK
10. Kurt Angle Vs. Chris Jericho - Rebellion 2001
Of all the UK-exclusive pay-per-views, Rebellion 2001 was probably the best, thanks to a wonderful topliner (more on that later) and this, a cracker over the WCW World Heavyweight Championship between the Ayatollah of Rock and Rollah and the Olympic Hero.
Kurt had recently defected to the Alliance because, hey, why not dilute the ECWCW versus WWF storyline some more, eh? Jericho was mightily annoyed at his former comrade for his turncoat ways and started the match aggressively, hitting some nice rolling verticals before Angle managed to ground him and stop the onslaught.
King Kurt continued to wear Y2J down with submissions, strikes and suplexes before Jericho rallied and came back with some of his own. The home stretch was great, with each man countering the others' best offense, demonstrating how well they knew each other from past encounters.
Eventually after many, many reversals and close falls, Jericho got the win with a rollup after evading an Angle Slam. A clean win for Jericho, at this point in time? Seems the company saw big things in his future as just over a month later he would be Undisputed Champion.
Based on displays like this, you could see why Vince and co. gave him the ball.
