10 Best WWE Moments From Wrestlers Who Just Got Released
5. Curt Hawkins' Losing Streak Comes To An End
A losing streak gimmick never exactly points to guaranteed stardom, but fans really started getting invested in Curt Hawkins as the number grew. By the time last year's WrestleMania rolled around, hhe had a 269 match losing streak, and no one expected him and Zack Ryder to dethrone The Revival in what appeared to be a throwaway bout on the Kickoff show.
After taking a brainbuster from Scott Dawson outside the ring, the now former champion dragged Hawkins back into the ring to mess with him, but ended up being rolled up and losing the titles.
With that, Hawkins not only managed to end his lengthy losing streak, but also ensured that both he and Ryder were once again Tag Team Champions (for the first time in more than a decade). This was another WrestleMania Moment for Ryder, of course, but it arguably belonged more to Hawkins.
This was a rare highlight in an otherwise forgettable run after he returned to WWE, and definitely something we can all be grateful for as he now looks to make an impact away from the company.
