More than 20 years later, WWE still hasn't come anywhere close to sending the fans home with a more exciting clifhanger than the one we saw at In Your House 11: Buried Alive (and, for our money, they probably never will).

Though it was The Deadman who came out of the event's eponymous match with victory, it was Mankind and his gang of cronies who enjoyed the last laugh, putting their opponent in the ground after the final bell and burying him up to his eyes in dirt.

But, in one of the most enduring visuals in the entire history of the company (that's not an understatement), 'Taker's purple-gloved hand popped right up through the ground just as the cameras prepared to cut away.

Granted, it's not as though - in the absence of this sign - any but the most impressionable of us would have gone to bed that night believing that we had just witnessed an act of murder. But the fact that The Phenom was hinting at a return so soon after the act made it clear we wouldn't have to wait very long to see him take his revenge.
